It’s easy to walk past Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset 313 all the time without noticing it. Brotzeit and the Charlie Brown Cafe normally steal my attention away. But Oriole is a gem in the heart of the city, and while Orchard is not always first-choice destination for casual dining, Oriole sits at the top of my list for coffee and desserts.
The Bangers & Mash was served with grilled english pork sausages, gravy and rich buttery mashed potato of goodness. The chicken quesadilas were nicely grilled, and they went well with the salad and potato wedges. They were a little too generous with the salsa sauce for the quesadilas and salt for the wedges, but I’m not complaining. It is definitely value for money at $14. The Philly Steak & Cheese turned out great too. For $15, you get nicely toasted buns that is filled with just the right amount of beef and cheese.
I’ll be honest. I haven’t had many scones, but I always derive joy from spreading cream and jam on pastry so I do it carefully. Pretty good scones too. It’s a place to revisit for sure.
